Malachi Johnson, 20, and Kayson Langhorn, 20, both of Waterbury, were arrested Sunday following an investigation into a burglary and larceny in Southbury and Roxbury, according to the state police.
The crimes were uncovered when troopers responded around 6:20 pm. Sunday to Southbury Road in Roxbury after a resident reported that two black men were rummaging through his vehicle in his driveway, however, when seen, they fled in a silver sedan, said Trooper Kelly Grant.
As troopers and Southbury police officers responded to the area, the silver sedan was located and the suspects were stopped and detained.
Through the course of the investigation, troopers learned numerous vehicles were broken into and items were stolen after they found burglary tools, numerous credit cards, small electronics, fishing gear, driver’s licenses and women’s pocketbooks in the possession of the men. None of these items belonged to either suspect.
The car break-ins occurred in the area of River Road, Falls Road, Southbury Road, and several other roads in Roxbury, along with Perkins Road, Brown Brook Road, and additional areas in Southbury.
Johnson was charged with six counts of burglary, four counts of larceny, and illegal possession of a credit card. he is being held on $70,000 bond.
Langhorn was charged with six counts of burglary, two counts of larceny, three counts of larceny sixth-degree, and two counts illegal possession of credit cards. He is being held $70,000 bond.
